The Department of Mental Health Nursing (Psychiatric Nursing) at Devsthali Vidyapeeth prepares nursing professionals to address the growing global challenge of mental health disorders. Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

Within a few years of graduation, our Mental Health Nursing alumni will achieve the following milestones:

  • PEO-1 (Psychiatric Leadership): Serve as psychiatric nurse specialists, clinical counselors, and ward managers in leading mental health institutes and rehabilitation facilities.
  • PEO-2 (Holistic Care Delivery): Apply advanced therapeutic communication techniques and psychotherapeutic interventions for acute and chronic psychiatric patients.
  • PEO-3 (Research & Advocacy): Lead community mental health surveys, research studies on stress resilience, and de-addiction awareness drives.

On successful completion of this specialization, students will be fully equipped to:

  • PSO-1: Perform structured Mental Status Examinations (MSE), psychiatric history taking, and psychological risk assessments accurately.
  • PSO-2: Manage psychiatric emergencies like acute psychosis, severe agitation, delirium, and suicidal tendencies with rapid therapeutic safety measures.
  • PSO-3: Conduct individual counseling, family therapy sessions, and psychoeducation programs for psychiatric patient rehabilitation.
